Cape Coral Animal Shelter

Helping Build a Community Institution From the Ground Up

Website | Digital | Print | Apparel | Social

A key part of Celsius Marketing Interactive’s culture is we strongly believe in giving back. Since Celsius Marketing opened our doors, we have always chosen a non-profit organization to donate our services to. Being the immense animal lovers that we are, when we heard Cape Coral was opening its first non-profit, no-kill animal shelter and we knew that it would be a purrrfect match.

Our involvement with the shelter began in 2017, roughly 3 years prior to the Cape Coral Animal Shelter opening its doors. Construction work for the shelter began in September of 2018 and in March of 2020, the doors opened to the public. Opening an animal shelter in the beginning of a pandemic was an unforeseen challenge. The pandemic altered many of the shelter’s plans. It was crucial to raise awareness and donations for the shelter to operate.

Sales & Marketing: Public Service Brand Elements

Objective

When community leaders in Cape Coral set out to establish the city's first nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter, they faced a challenge far greater than constructing a building.

They needed to build awareness, attract donors, recruit volunteers, create a recognizable brand, establish community trust, and generate the financial support necessary to turn a vision into reality.

As longtime advocates of community involvement and charitable service, Celsius Marketing & Interactive saw an opportunity to contribute to a cause that aligned closely with the company's culture and values.

In 2017, nearly three years before the shelter officially opened its doors, Celsius began partnering with what would become the Cape Coral Animal Shelter (CCAS). The goal was simple but ambitious:

Help build a sustainable brand and community movement that supports the shelter's long-term success.

Key objectives included:

  • Create a recognizable and trusted nonprofit brand
  • Raise awareness throughout Southwest Florida
  • Support fundraising and donor development efforts
  • Build a digital platform for adoptions, donations, and community engagement
  • Recruit volunteers and supporters
  • Promote adoption initiatives
  • Create marketing systems capable of supporting long-term growth

The challenge became even more significant when the shelter opened in March 2020, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Just as operations began, many traditional fundraising, awareness, and community outreach plans were disrupted, creating an urgent need for creative communication and donor engagement strategies.

Strategy

From the beginning, Celsius approached the project as more than a marketing engagement.

The objective was to help create a community institution.

The strategy focused on building a comprehensive ecosystem that would support every aspect of the shelter's mission, including:

  • Fundraising
  • Community awareness
  • Volunteer recruitment
  • Pet adoptions
  • Event promotion
  • Donor communications
  • Long-term brand development

Because the shelter was being built from scratch, every touchpoint mattered.

The brand needed to inspire confidence among donors, encourage adoption among prospective pet owners, and create emotional connections with animal lovers throughout the region.

The strategy centered on three core principles:

Build Awareness

Create a recognizable and trustworthy brand that could quickly establish itself within the community.

Drive Engagement

Develop tools and platforms that make it easy for supporters to donate, volunteer, attend events, and adopt pets.

Create Sustainability

Build marketing systems that support the shelter long after its initial launch.

Solution

Over the course of the partnership, Celsius became deeply integrated into the development and growth of the Cape Coral Animal Shelter.

Brand Development

Celsius helped establish and maintain the shelter's visual identity and public-facing brand presence.

This included:

  • Brand standards
  • Marketing collateral
  • Event branding
  • Community awareness campaigns
  • Fundraising campaign development
  • Promotional materials

Every effort was designed to strengthen recognition and build trust within the community.

Website Design & Development

Celsius designed, developed, and donated the shelter's website, creating a digital hub that serves as the central operations hub for many shelter activities.

The platform includes:

  • Real-time pet adoption listings
  • Meet-and-greet scheduling
  • Online donation capabilities
  • Event calendars
  • Volunteer information
  • Community resources
  • Fundraising support tools

The site was designed to balance functionality, storytelling, and ease of use while helping connect pets with potential adopters.

Fundraising & Campaign Support

As a nonprofit organization, fundraising is critical to long-term success.

Celsius supported numerous fundraising initiatives through:

  • Campaign development
  • Event branding
  • Donor communications
  • Direct marketing materials
  • Email marketing campaigns
  • Digital promotion
  • Event collateral

These efforts helped generate awareness and financial support during both the shelter's construction phase and ongoing operations.

Community Engagement

The partnership extended far beyond traditional marketing services.

Celsius contributed to:

  • Social media management
  • Email marketing
  • Event promotion
  • Volunteer engagement initiatives
  • Shelter merchandise and apparel
  • Vehicle wraps
  • Signage systems
  • Printed materials and brochures

The relationship became so integrated that Celsius' Vice President joined the shelter's Board of Directors, providing strategic guidance and ongoing support to the organization.

We designed, developed, and donated the CCAS website. The website is user friendly while also maintaining the functionalities needed for the shelter to achieve its goals with donations and adoptions.

The website is not only functional and artistic, but it also allows the user to view all animals up for adoption, schedule meet and greets with the pets, view a calendar with all events, donate directly to the shelter, and more.

Our work with the shelter expands far beyond the website. We also do all the creative design work from flyers and brochures, to designing the van wrap, fundraising event and campaign themes and collateral, signage, shelter swag, and so much more. The Celsius Marketing Interactive team also contributes to managing their social media platforms and providing email marketing services, just to name a few.

To do all this, we work closely with the board of directors and our very own Vice President is honored to have a seat as a member of the board.

This one is measured in lives changed.

The result was more than a marketing project. It was the creation of a community institution that continues to make a lasting difference for animals and the people who love them.
